There is no doubt that Nottingham is the place to be for students

There’s no doubt that Nottingham is a great place to live, from ample shopping stores, a variety of restaurants/bars and the rising music industry is making Nottingham the place to be!

Nottingham has three major travel companies; NCT, Trent Barton and NET Trams. These bus/tram links can take you to anywhere in Nottinghamshire, making everything virtually on your doorstep.

We are also host to one of the biggest names in the club/live music scene, Rock City has a student night every Thursday with 2-4-1 deals. For music venues/clubs we also have Rescue Rooms & Stealth next to Rock City. The Bodega in Hockley and The Forum which is located in the Corner House.

The Corner House is situated in the City Centre and hosts; Just the tonic, Bella Italia, Chiquitos, Cineworld, Fun Station, Casino, Hairdressers, Mini Golf, Nandos, Pizza Hut, Red Hot Buffet, Saltwater, Subway, Slug & Lettuce, Tamatanga, Turtle Bay and Wagamama. With all these restaurants/ bars you won’t be short of options.

In the heart of the City Centre we have the Theatre Royal, Royal Concert Hall, Playhouse and if you’re studying Art the Nottingham Contemporary is definitely worth going to.

Hockley, also known as the Creative Quarter is a rising area popular with students as it supports independent businesses such as cafes and shops, vintage stores and boutiques. Keep a look out for music festivals such as the Hockley Hustle as these are hosted all over Hockley and are great if you are a music buff.

The Lace Market is an historic area of Nottingham which was once the centre of the world’s lace industry and is now a protected heritage area. The former warehouse buildings have now been converted into apartments, bars, restaurants and shops. It stands as part of the Creative Quarter.

Notable places to visit also consist of the Lace Market Theatre and the Galleries of Justice is an independent museum which has frequent ghost and terror tours.

From Hockley we have the Capital FM area, home of the Nottingham Panthers. Year round concerts and shows and why not make an afternoon of it with ice skating and visiting the restaurant.

Home to two of the oldest football clubs in the World. Notts County were formed in 1862 and are the oldest professional association football club in the world. Nottingham Forest were formed three years later. The two grounds are close to each other, only separated by the River Trent.

Situated less than a mile away we have the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground which has been considered one of the finest cricket venues. Test cricket since 1838 and is the world’s third oldest Test ground.

Also located on the River Trent we have Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre, this huge 270 acres of parkland offers a fantastic array of actives such as; rowing, canoeing, water skiing, white water rafting, sailing, cycling, laser tag and much more.

Summers in the sun…

If spending some time outdoors in the summer is for you we would recommend Colwick Country Park with two large lakes, walking, horse riding and swimming. Within close proximity to the greyhound stadium, horse racecourse and Colwick Hall which is located close to Holme Pierrepont.

Newstead Abbey is a beautiful historic house with beautiful landscaped gardens and parkland covering more than 300 acres lakes, ponds and waterfalls. A variety of special events are hosted throughout the year.

Located five minutes away from Chilwell Retail Park is the Attenborough Nature Centre & Reserve. This centre and reserve are operated by the Nottinghamshire wildlife Trust. With stunning views and surrounded by water this is the place to visit.

One of the most Notable Hall and Park is Wollaton Hall as it hosts both No Tomorrow Festival in June and Splendor festival in July. You may also be familiar with the Hall as it was used as the setting for Wayne Manor in the 2012 Batman film.

Queens Medical Centre, more commonly known as the QMC was the first purpose built teaching hospital in the UK, part of the University of Nottingham and has merge with the City Hospital. The QMC is the busier of the two as it has an accident and emergency unit, and is the primary destination of the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Let’s not forget… We have Robin Hood

The name and the adventures are known all over the world so why not go and visit Sherwood Forest and see the Major Oak yourself. During the beginning of August it will be buzzing with activity for the Robin Hood Festival.

All around Sherwood Forest there are miles of off-road cycling and walking trails along with the Go Ape! Treetop challenge! Or Segways!

Nottingham Castle museum and art gallery can be easily located from the City Centre. With stunning views, amazing history and don’t forget a visit to the caves, which are below the castle.

Why not even take a trip to ‘Ye Olde Trip of Jerusalem’ one of England’s oldest pub, dating back to 1189AD.
